About us
We Are One of The Largest, Most Diverse Girls' Secondary School in Uganda
St. Joseph’s Girls S. S. S Nsambya is a Catholic-founded private school, which was started on 23rd January 1967 by the Little Sisters of St. Francis as the Founding Body; who up to-date are the appointing authority for the School Board of Governors and administration. It is a girls-only “O” and “A” level boarding secondary school located in Kampala, off Nsambya Road, in Makindye Division, Kampala District.
The idea to start this school was born out of a need to promote the then neglected education of the girls in the country. The need was expressed by parents to the Little Sisters of St. Francis, who have as their mission to uplift the standard and status of women in the African society.
Over the years, JOGINSA has been involved in the provision of the following services:
a) Educating, forming and empowering the girl-child with academic and life skills.
b) The spiritual and moral development of the girl-child.
c) Building individual capacity through practical entrepreneurial skills of production for livelihood development.
Mandate and Objectives of Joginsa
JOGINSA’s mandate seeks to contribute to the efforts of the Uganda government and Ministry of Education and Sports regarding the thrust in National Development Plan (NDP) III and Vision 2040 as well as the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) to offer quality education to improve the wellbeing and productivity of Ugandans, through:
- Educating and emancipating young girls to shape them into God-fearing, enlightened and productive citizens.
- Promoting discipline and academic excellence of the girl-child.
- Helping girls to grow holistically into principled and upright women of integrity.
The definitive success of JOGINSA is reflected in the impact of its educational approach and the ability to deliver services premised on the faith-based foundation of the School.
